GLP-1 Therapy and Beyond: Comprehensive Obesity Medicine Mastery
Practical, evidence-based strategies for prescribing GLP-1 therapies and delivering comprehensive obesity medicine care with Dr. Alexandra Sowa
Gain clarity and confidence in prescribing and optimizing GLP-1 therapies while addressing the full spectrum of obesity medicine care.
Learn how to evaluate metabolic disease, select and sequence medications, and integrate nutrition, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and lifestyle interventions that support durable weight and metabolic outcomes.
What This Masterclass Covers
Many healthcare professionals have not received structured training in obesity pharmacotherapy, metabolic evaluation, or the integration of medication with nutrition and behavioral strategies. As GLP-1 receptor agonists and dual incretin therapies rapidly expand across clinical practice, clinicians are increasingly expected to manage obesity as a chronic disease without formal education in comprehensive obesity medicine care.
This masterclass provides clinicians with a practical, clinically relevant framework for understanding and prescribing GLP-1 therapies while addressing the full spectrum of obesity medicine treatment. Participants will gain a clear understanding of metabolic disease pathophysiology, appropriate clinical workup, medication selection and sequencing—including all FDA-approved anti-obesity medications—as well as nutrition optimization, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and lifestyle interventions that support sustainable metabolic outcomes.
The Course Objectives
- Understand obesity as a chronic disease
Participants will be able to describe the pathophysiology of metabolic disease and apply a chronic disease framework to obesity care and long-term patient management. - Prescribe and optimize obesity pharmacotherapy
Participants will learn how to evaluate patients appropriately and select, sequence, and manage GLP-1 therapies and other FDA-approved anti-obesity medications, including titration and side-effect management. - Integrate comprehensive obesity care
Participants will be able to incorporate nutrition optimization, cognitive-behavioral strategies, and lifestyle interventions into clinical care to support durable metabolic and weight outcomes.
